Crew training beyond the rating: type rating recurrent training and line training

A type rating is the start of crew training on a new aircraft, not the end. Line training after the type rating is flown on the operator's aircraft under the supervision of a training captain, following the operator's approved training programme, before the pilot is released to fly the line.

After that, pilots keep the rating valid through recurrent training: periodic simulator sessions, proficiency checks and ground refreshers set by the operator's programme and the regulator's rules. Tell us whether you need initial type rating, recurrent training or simulator capacity for both, and we match approved partner providers to your fleet and dates.

Questions

Questions about type rating

Who delivers the training?

Approved partner training providers deliver the training under their own approvals. Pilots Assist coordinates.

Which aircraft types can you cover?

Tell us your fleet and we confirm the provider options and available dates for your requirement.

Does starting a conversation cost anything?

No. It is free and creates no obligation on either side.

Can you arrange type rating recurrent training as well as initial type ratings?

Yes. Tell us the aircraft type, the number of crew and the regulator they fly under, and we look for approved partner providers with simulator capacity for recurrent training, initial type ratings or both.

What is line training after a type rating?

Line training is flown on the operator's own aircraft and routes under the supervision of a training captain, after the type rating and before the pilot flies the line. It follows the operator's approved training programme, so the operator plans it with its regulator.

Quick answers

Quick answers

What type rating training can you arrange for crews?

We arrange type rating training for airline and cargo crews through partner training providers. Training is planned around your fleet, roster and regulator. The page covers the requirement, matching, training and records, so each crew member training is documented from start to finish and your operations team always knows the status.

Do you also cover recurrent training?

Yes. The page covers crew training beyond the rating, including recurrent training. We work through partner training providers and plan around your fleet, roster and regulator, with one point of contact for your team. Ask us about your fleet and we will confirm availability and written terms for each provider.

What does the operator pay?

The page has a section on what the operator pays. Costs depend on the aircraft type, the training provider and your regulator, so we confirm figures with you in writing before anything is booked. We do not publish a single price, because fees vary by provider and fleet, and they can change over time.
