01

Start with eligibility and medical readiness

Complete the appropriate aviation-medical pathway early and review the current DGCA eligibility rules before paying a large deposit. Medical or academic-document questions are easier to resolve before relocation and loan disbursement.

Your plan should connect education records, computer-number preparation, ground examinations and flight-school admission. Current regulatory requirements must be confirmed through official DGCA and eGCA sources.

  • Medical milestone planned before major payment
  • Academic records checked for consistency
  • Exam and admission timelines mapped together

02

Choose a school on operating evidence

Approval is the starting point, not the whole decision. Ask how many aircraft are serviceable, how many students share them, how instructor changes are handled and how many hours comparable students have recently flown.

Review maintenance arrangements, weather exposure, airspace congestion, payment terms and transfer policies. A lower hourly rate can become expensive when aircraft access is inconsistent.

  • Current regulator verification
  • Recent aircraft and instructor availability
  • Written inclusions, exclusions and refund terms

03

Budget for completion, not admission

Combine ground school, examinations, flying, briefing, landing charges, equipment, accommodation, local travel and additional-hour contingency. Then add the career-stage costs that follow licence issue.

Use the same cost headings when comparing Indian and overseas routes. The CPL cost calculator provides an editable planning model, while a counsellor can replace assumptions with current school quotations.

  • Base and delay scenarios
  • Milestone-based payment plan
  • Finance gap identified before training starts

04

Plan beyond the CPL

A licence is one milestone. Instrument and multi-engine proficiency, interview preparation and a type-rating decision may affect the next stage. Do not purchase career training merely because a package labels it mandatory.

PilotsAssist connects the school decision to finance, DGCA ground preparation, type-rating options and an application plan so each step has a defined purpose.

Frequently asked questions

Questions to resolve before paying.

How should I compare flying schools in India?

Compare current approval, serviceable aircraft, instructor availability, recent student throughput, fee exclusions, location constraints and the written process for delays or transfers.

Should I complete the medical before admission?

Medical readiness should be addressed early. Confirm the current sequence and applicable standard through official DGCA guidance and an authorised aviation medical examiner.

Is the lowest hourly rate the cheapest route?

Not necessarily. Additional hours, downtime, accommodation and delayed completion can outweigh a lower published aircraft rate.

Can PilotsAssist help with finance?

PilotsAssist can help prepare a complete cost file and compare available finance routes. Sanction and terms remain subject to the lender's assessment.
